Poker Basics
Under Construction, please be patient.

A lot of the content on this website is heavy reading for the beginner who doesn't yet have the basics of poker down.  This is intentional: becoming a solid winner at poker requires a lot of studying and experience.  If you want to delude yourself into thinking you can instantly become a big winner at poker by looking a chart of starting hands for hold 'em, or by playing a simple memorized strategy, that's your choice.  Not only is this plan not profitable, it is very boring to always do what someone else tells you.  (Don't we play poker to have fun?)  But the dedicated players, who study hard and use experience as their guide, are able to develop their own unique style of play and win big at the tables.

However, there are some characteristics that all winning poker players share, regardless of their style.  You will find these in The Right Stuff essay.  Also, there are some basic concepts about poker theory that you must understand, covered in the Poker Truths essay.  If you know the general concepts of poker and want to skip to your game of choice, use the links below.
